Atlantic Splash is the story of five ordinary men taking on an extraordinary adventure. No top drawer rowers, no seasoned ‘round the world’ adventurers, no incredible athletes, just a bunch of good friends from the South Coast of England. All of us are usually found in coastal rowing boats, racing all around the Kent and Sussex shorelines. This time, however, the boat and the challenge are slightly different.

On December 2nd 2013, Team Atlantic Splash will take on the challenge of a lifetime: The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. Setting off from San Sebastian de La Gomera, Canaries Islands, in our endeavour to row across the Atlantic. Throughout the 3000 mile journey to the finish line in Antigua, following the route once opened by Columbus, we will face tropical storms, 50 foot waves, physical and mental exhaustion, startled marine life, daily cohabitation on board a vessel less than ten metre long and ten to twelve hours of rowing in a continuous night and day 2-hour shift pattern. Some sort of holiday!

On our way to the finishing line, we are looking to raise funds in excess of £200,000 both to get our project going (The costings are expected to be in the region of £90,000) and to be distributed equally to our four chosen charities . These are the Great Ormond Street Hospital, the Tall Ships Youth Trust, the British Heart Foundation and the Macular Society.

Whether you are just giving us moral support, a few pounds or are interested in becoming one of our corporate sponsors, please feel free to donate to Team Atlantic Splash now, become part of our oceanic adventure and support four amazing charities!
